THE LIBRARY UNITED STATES MILITARY ACADEMY WEST POINT, NEW YORK January 31, 1905. To Mr. Theodore Cooper, 7 West 43d Street, New York City. Dear Mr. Cooper: Professor Fiebeger refers me to Wheeler's Civil Engineering (Wiley amd Sons, 1901), page 358, for a correct drawing of Long's truss. The diagonal members abut at the lowest and highest parts of the vertical ones, and the whole thing is ship-shape and scientific, and perhaps the very first truss that was so. Professor Fiebeger says that this drawing is authentic, but I cannot refer you now to the original from which it was taken. If it is important, I can have it looked up for you. With kind regards, believe me, dear Mr. Cooper, Very sincerely yours, Edward S. Holden Librarian.
