My dear Sir: I am in receipt of your favor of the 5th and am glad to know that justice can be done my old friend Murphy, I neglected to state in my former communication that the 165 ft. span referred to, afte. standing nearly 11 years at Phil-lipsburg, was removed to Towanda and erected in the middle of a 9 span bridge, 8 of which were of wuod, crossing the Susquehanna River, where it remained from 1869 to 1879. When we rebuilt the entire bridge of iron the 165 ft. span was sent to Kellogg and Maurice's shop, Sayre, Pa., where wrought iron main braces and posts were substituted for the cast iron parts; the bridge was then re-erected over Shepherd's Creek on our connecting line with Southern Central R.
