PARDEE HALL, erected for the use of the Technical Departments, was formally opened and dedicated October 21st, 1873. It cost more than a quarter of a million of dollars, and is the munificent gift of Ario Pardee, Esq., of Hazleton, Pa. The Technical Departments were organized in 1866, and include the following courses of study, viz.: I. CIVIL ENGINEERING. II. MINING ENGINEERING. III. CHEMISTRY. Graduates in the first course receive the degree of Civil Engineer (C. E.); those in the second, Engineer of Mines (E. M.); and those in the third, Bachelor of Science (B. S. in Chemistry). Students are also allowed to pursue SPECIAL STUDIES in Engineering, etc., and upon passing a satisfactory examination therein, may obtain Certificates of the same.
