Current Professional Activities
Andrea Parrot is professionally interested in the areas of women's
health, human sexuality, violence against women, and medical ethics;
and the cultural and policy issues related to those areas. She has been
a guest on numerous radio and television shows, including Face the
Nation, Oprah, Good Morning America, Larry King Live, etc. Her work in
sexual assault had required her to provide expert testimony at
Congressional Hearings, and well as in civil and criminal cases. She
was also instrumental in developing the "Unheard Voices" exhibition of
face castings and oral histories of sexual assault survivors. She has
also been a grant reviewer for the US Department of Justice to fund
programs through the Violence Against Women money appropriated by
Congress. She has spoken at over 110 US and international colleges and
universities on sexual assault and women’s issues. She has been a board
member of the New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault, as well
as the Foundation for the Scientific Study of Sexuality. She is
currently a member of the Sexual Violence Primary Prevention Committee
(SVPPC), of the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Women's
Health, Rape Crisis Program. Since 2001 she has been researching
women’s issues and lecturing in selected countries in Europe, Central
and Eastern Asia, Africa, South America, and North America. She has
taught for the Institute for Shipboard Education during the Summer 2006
semester in Asia, and the Fall 2001 semester that circumnavigated the
globe (while on sabbatical). She is also a Clinical Professor of
Psychiatry at the Upstate Medical University in Syracuse New York.

Parrot is also a Member of the Graduate Field of Feminist, Gender and
Sexuality Studies and a Biology and Society Program faculty member

Andrea Parrot is currently researching women's issues cross culturally.
Current Extension Activities
Although I have no formal extension appointment, I frequently
present to varied audiences on Assisted Reproductive Technologies, and
Global Violence Against Women.

Biographical Statement
