Placement of dietetic interns in supervised practice sites in Monroe County and Tompkins County Cornell Cooperative Extension, Lansing School Meal Program, Tompkins County WIC, Wegmans Headquarters in Rochester, NY, Preferred Care Wellness Promotion Program in Rochester, NY, and Foodnet of Tompkins County, NY.



Biography

Biographical Statement

Susan Travis specializes in community nutrition education program development, nutrition communications and counseling, sports nutrition, adolescent nutrition and eating disorders. She has worked at national, state and local levels. She has conducted nutrition workshops for community volunteer leaders and health educators who work with youth across the US. For 18 years, Susan was a state nutrition specialist with the Division of Nutritional Sciences and Cornell Cooperative Extension at Cornell University. Her specialties in adult and youth nutrition education programs resulted in numerous workshops and publications. Susan served as the assistant state EFNEP leader for 10 years and the state leader, for three years. In addition, she was employed as Cornell Cooperative Extension nutrition educator for Tompkins County in Ithaca, NY, for three years, responsible for community nutrition. Susan was fellow in the University of Rochester’s Leadership Education in Adolescent Health Program at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, from 1999 – 2000. Susan directed the Cornell Dietetics Program from 2002 – 2004. Currently she is the community nutrition coordinator for the Dietetic Internship Program and teaches nutrition communications and counseling and sports nutrition. Her research examines the food and eating management and interactions in households with adolescent female athletes. Susan also does private nutrition counseling for youth and adults specializing in the prevention and treatment of eating disorders, management of a healthy weight and eating for peak sports performance.
