We have been examining human motion through the lens of motion-capture for the past ten years. Initially our work was in the field of dance, where we have engaged in collaborations with such legendary choreographers as Merce Cunningham, William Forsythe, Bill T. Jones, and Trisha Brown. In our first projects, we created virtual dancing bodies in the form of 3D hand-drawn gesture renderings. Installation works like Ghostcatching (with Bill T. Jones; 1999) and live stage works like BIPED (with Merce Cunningham; 1999) were critical and popular breakthroughs, which cross-pollinated audiences from the dance and con1puter worlds.

Playground is an interactive installation that explores the elegance and richness of children's natural movements and the structured choreography and social patterns they create unselfconsciously when they are at play. It will also be an unprecedented exploration of the algorithmic nature of children's games as apprehended by AI agents in real-time.
